Elo Filling InfoComm Booth With Real World (Yay!) Touch Applications

Dave Haynes is founder and editor of Sixteen:Nine blog and previews Infocomm and what Elotouch (can we say that now?) will be showing. Looks like big intro for 55 inch touch though I'd like to see the full Cisco telepresence demo.

It looks like Elo TouchSystems has lined up an interesting set of partners to show some real world applications for its gear at InfoComm in a coupla weeks.

Silicon Valley-based Array Interactive will demo a NASA campus way-finding application (above) that will be shown on a 55 inch Elo touch display.

The guys at Toronto-based Jibestream Interactive Media will be showing off a NovoTouch building directory and NovoMap wayfinding software that builds in Cisco's Telepresence system on an Elo 55-inch display. The Telepresence bit can connect a live video call from a public kiosk to a remote operator for assistance. That's not necessarily new (I saw a demo of this at DSE when they were still doing the show in Chicago), but full integration with the rest of the platform makes it interesting. (Disclosure: done some work with these guys).

Montreal-based TouchTunes Interactive Networks will show an interactive jukebox with an Elo 26-inch screen. TouchTunes has 1,000s and 1,000s of digital downloading, pay-per-play jukeboxes in bars and restaurants all over the US. Cool company. (Disclosure: these guys, too).

Seattle's Intava will demonstrate a visual merchandising tool that combines a product catalog, interactive content and digital signage on an Elo TouchSystems 55 inch high definition touch display.

I like real-world stuff and nothing makes me keep walking past a touch vendor booth than YET ANOTHER play with photos thing that was cool five years ago. Why that continues to be THE BIG FEATURE for a lot of touch and software vendors entirely escapes me.
