Getting a cab in New York can often be stressful, especially during peak hours. Now, ZabKab hopes to take the hassle out of hailing a taxi with its new smartphone app. The app, launched last week, allows users to hail for a cab straight from their phones by simply tapping on a button. The user can then see near-by taxis on a map in real-time, and their GPS coordinates and request would be sent to the cab drivers.

Due to New York's Taxi & Limousine Commission regulations, ZabKab doesn't offer pre-arranged pickup service, but rather allows cab drivers to see where the customers are. The app is free to download for users, but costs taxi drivers $14,95 a month to use the service, after an initial 45-day free trial.
