TAYLORSVILLE, UT -- An apartment complex here will be the first location of its kind to get one ofShop24 Global's robotic convenience stores.

Originally operated in Europe and on the East Coast of the United States, Shop24 dispenses a wide variety of items, from snacks, drinks and refrigerated food to cleaning supplies and over-the-counter medicines. The enclosure stands more than 9 ft. tall and is 10 ft. deep, stretching a minimum of 13 ft. wide, and offering up to 200 traditional convenience items ranging in weight from less than 1 oz. and up to 8 lbs.

Shop24 accepts cash, credit cards, debit cards and supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) cards.

The robotic convenience store will join other amenities at the Salt Lake City-area Fairstone at Riverview apartment complex, including a pool, movie theatre, business center and fitness center. Convenience store veteran Tony Trotter will own and operate the automated c-store.

Andrew Heflich, regional vice-president of Shop 24 Global, said the group plans to place additional stores both in Salt Lake City and at properties in Phoenix. "It's definitely what the residents want and need," he said.

Headquartered in Columbus, OH, Shop24 Global LLC says its automated convenience stores have been installed in more than 250 locations in 15 countries and have over 150 million transactions.
